Why it is a sign
On a messaging app there is no sender address to check, no trace in your inbox, and files come through unfiltered. The large influencer agencies that get impersonated all warn: they never contact anyone through WhatsApp, Telegram or text messages.
What a real brand does
A real brand writes from an address in its name and stays there. A call or a video meeting is set up afterwards, from that exchange.
What to do
Answer by e-mail and ask that everything stays there. If the person insists on changing channel, treat the offer as doubtful.
