Needs checking: real brands rarely do it, scammers imitate it
brand.world, brand.xyz, brand.site: an extension that gives away a fake address
A brand writes from its usual domain name. An address ending in .world, .xyz, .top, .site or .online, rarely used by brands and cheap for scammers, deserves a check.

Why it is a sign
These extensions cost a few euros, register in a minute and are used massively for phishing: scammers reproduce a known brand's name there. In a campaign analysed by a security vendor, an energy drink brand was imitated from a .world domain, with a rate table to look serious.
What a real brand does
A real brand writes from the domain of its website, almost always .com, .co.uk, .fr or its country's extension. An agency writes from its own and says so.
What to do
Type the brand's real website yourself and compare the address. Write to it through that website to confirm the person exists. Do not answer the address you received until that is done.
